Background Checks and Clearances
All local Little Leagues are required to conduct background checks on managers, coaches, board of directors members and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular services to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams. Individuals are also required to complete and submit a Little League Volunteer Application to their local league. https://www.littleleague.org/volunteer/
1) A report of criminal history record information from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement from the Pennsylvania State Police that the State Police central repository contains no such information relating to that person. https://www.psp.pa.gov/pages/request-a-criminal-history-record.aspx (click on the volunteer clearance)
(2) A certification from the department as to whether the applicant is named in the Statewide database as the alleged perpetrator in a pending child abuse investigation or as the perpetrator of a founded report or an indicated report. https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home
(3) A full set of fingerprints to the Pennsylvania State Police for the purpose of a record check, and the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent shall submit the fingerprints to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the purpose of verifying the identity of the applicant and obtaining a current record of any criminal arrests and convictions. ONLY NEEDED IF YOU HAVE NOT LIVED IN PENNSYLVANIA FOR THE LAST 10 CONSECUTIVE YEARS.
The above clearances are valid for five years, so save these in your files to submit each year you want to volunteer for Dillsburg Youth Baseball.
(4) Little League International requires all leagues and districts in the United States to conduct background checks that utilize JDP Background Screening. This checks volunteers for any sexual abuse history.
Unlike the other clearances, this screening must be done annually.
